The Economic Times sponsored the second ABLC in KL on 29 – 30 November 2017. Ministers from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Cambodia spoke but the core of the agenda and most of the delegates were from India and Malaysia. Speakers included Malaysia’s PM Najib Razak and Minister for International Trade and Industry Mustapa Mohamed; India’s Minister of Trade and Commerce Suresh Prabhu; several Ambassadors; and industry heavyweights such as G.M.Rao.
Andrew joined the panel on Driving Global Investments in Infrastructure in Asia alongside ICICI Ventures’ Prashant Purker, Ravin Group’s Vijay Karia, Invest India’s Suja Chandy, Taiwan External TDC’s Chuang Suo-Hang with the Times’ Taneia Bhardwaj as moderator. Andrew’s view was that both India and Malaysia benefited from host governments which understood Private Sector Participation better than did most other governments in the region, strong domestic sponsors and deeper financing markets. For political and technical reasons, China’s Belt & Road Initiative would have less of an impact than elsewhere. Governments still needed to Properly Prepare Projects, however.

Andrew was felicitated by Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed, accompanied by Deepak Lamba, President – TSSL and CEO, World Wide Media.
And there is a coffee table book with details of the speakers still to come.
