Andrew Zoomed into a panel at this week’s conference in Lima on “Challenges and Disputes in Public Private Partnership Contracts: New Frontiers and Innovation in Dispute Management and Resolution” hosted by the Arbitration Centre of the Lima Chamber of Commerce (CCL) and the World Association of PPP Units & PPP Professionals (WAPPP).

He joined Romina Segura of Echecopar to discuss “Litigation Funding and Arbitration in PPPs”. Having been both funded by Third Party Funders and not, he pointed out that they i) enable promising cases to go ahead when otherwise they might not afford to ii) bring a second opinion as to how likely the case is to win and how to win it iii) ensure rigour to proceedings including allowing experts to remain independent given that, whilst we will no doubt be sympathetic to our client, our first obligation is to the tribunal.
Andrew is currently visiting west London where a certain fellow visitor would no doubt agree that these SoBOs hold true in Peru as well as worldwide.
